grace for extra effort–a poem

grace for extra effort

the proofers reading down

a table of figures,  now

across, like the jersey turnpike

shooting arrow-straight

across its no-mind of

coeval with a sprinting clock

that dissolves the naked

model into desire’s dust on

skin-soft newsprint–

yes,  mr. einstein, we know

what you think, or would

if you knocked our noodle

more often;

a bug leaping onto a bear,

a kiss in your arms.
