We Never Know How… Emily Dickinson

File:Arthur-Pyle How Arthur drew forth ye sword.JPG

a bit of old-fashioned inspiration from Miss Dickinson:

97.

*

We never know how high we are

Til we are called to rise;

And then, if we are true to plan,

Our statures touch the sky.

*

The heroism we recite

Would be a daily thing,

Did not ourselves the cubits warp

For fear to be a king.
