Lady Day

File:Billie Holiday 0001 original.jpg

The one and only; Billie Holiday (1915-1959) sings her heart out. Out of the ashes of a terrible childhood, Holiday rose phoenix-like to become (as one critic called her) “perhaps the greatest singer of the century.” Her artistic integrity and inspired vocals have influenced many singers who followed her. Her passion and struggle for greatness serve as a model for anyone whose work aspires to the condition of art.
